Richard Banville writes horror and historical fiction, sometimes at the same time. By day he is a renewable energy expert with numerous technical publications and over 20 granted U.S. patents. He applies the same inventiveness and research skills to his speculative fiction—not just asking, but answering the question, “what if”?
Banville writes horror to evoke emotions in the reader that make a story more real than if it were strictly “realistic.” He most enjoys stories that build a sense of dread, one bad choice at a time, until the only escape from the darkness is to become its master.
Banville lives in upstate New York with his family. He is a member of the Horror Writers Association and a frequent reviewer for the Historical Novel Society. His agent is Charlie Serabian of Martin-Newens Literary Management.
